For the closing of Contra la Pared, David Thomson collaborated with exhibiting artist Analia Segal to create a solo. Performing in a sculpted garment, created by Segal, made of plastic boning—a common material used in clothing for shaping the body, Thomson plays with the shifting modalities of place and relationship to an object tied to his body. Employing tasks and actions, Thomson shifts narratives by acquiring symbolic and metaphorical allusions. This performance confronts ideas of place and patterns of behavior. Following the performance, join Segal and Thomson at 2 pm for an informal discussion about their inspirations for the work, personal and shared processes, and overall collaboration.
